Who We Are
History
OCEC was founded by a group of extraordinary individuals who shared the vision of a more just and equitable Orange County. In 2008, after the passage of California's anti-gay-marriage act, Proposition 8, OCEC's founding members began organizing in the interest of marriage equality and justice for all people in a progressive Orange County. Since this time, the OCEC community has continued to grow in numbers and influence as it strives toward this vision.
Mission
Empowering the LGBTQ+ community in Orange County through education, advocacy, and coalition-building.
Founding Members
OCEC's founding members include the late M. Katherine Baird Darmer. A Law Professor at Chapman University and fierce advocate for social justice, Professor Darmer was a beloved voice for progress in Orange County.
